Editorial Standards

Effective date: October 10, 2026

Accuracy and verification

Material claims must be supported by reliable sourcing. Reporters and editors should seek primary records and on-the-record confirmation where practical, identify uncertainty, and distinguish verified facts from allegation, analysis, opinion, projection, and developing information.

Fairness and context

Coverage should represent relevant context, avoid misleading omissions, and offer a meaningful opportunity to respond when a person or organization faces significant criticism. Headlines, thumbnails, and social copy must accurately reflect the underlying reporting.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial conclusions are not purchased by advertisers, sponsors, teams, leagues, agents, or subjects. Material conflicts and paid relationships must be disclosed. Sponsored or affiliate content must be labeled clearly and kept distinct from independent reporting.

Sourcing and attribution

Urban Chart credits reporting, images, data, quotations, and creative work to their sources. Anonymous sourcing should be exceptional, justified by the public value of the information, and reviewed before publication.

Artificial intelligence

Automated tools may assist research, transcription, organization, or drafting, but may not replace source verification, rights review, human editorial judgment, or owner approval. Urban Chart does not publish unverified AI-generated claims, fabricated quotations, or synthetic media presented as authentic.

Privacy, safety, and sensitive coverage

Editors should weigh public interest against avoidable harm, especially when handling private individuals, minors, medical information, source identities, graphic media, or allegations of misconduct. Confidential source material and private ZLS records must not enter public systems.

Approval and accountability

All public bylines use URBAN CHART EDITORIAL. ZLS Editorial Operations administers the editorial process. Every item must complete Draft → Editorial QA → Owner Review → Approved before a separate manual publish action. Legal, security, safety, or material reputational issues are escalated to ZLS Executive. Material errors are handled under the Corrections Policy.
